check this link. Go to Page 27, first para. it should give you your answer.
Once your I-140 is approved the PD gets LOCKED in your name for ever. Revoking I-140 doesn't matter.
Otherwise no one will be able to do it because once you leave Old employer many of them revokes approved I-140 to keep their slate clean. Getting a New Perm Labor and New I-140 may take 1-2 yrs even , the old employer is not going to wait that long.
Correct me if i'm wrong - please post the credible link if possible.

If the indian company is in USA then according to labor laws you CANNOT work in USA in an India based firm using H4. But if you are asking you will work from "home" for an india based company that is in India but you are working from USA for the Indian company in India and being paid in Indian currency then that is OK i believe.
I am NOT assuring you that this is "lawful" but I dont see why it should create a problem.

THAT IS WRONG INFO.
If, after your 485 is approved (you get green card), if you re-enter the country on a visa (like H1, L1) etc. your green card will be considered abandoned and you will lose your entire GC petition. The whole thing.
The only way to enter USA after GC is approved while you are abroad is to re-enter on advanced parole.
If you have AP that's great. But if you dont, I think you can even apply for AP from overseas. Check with an immigration lawyer. I think you can apply and get AP abroad if you dont have one, and once you get it, come on AP and receive your green card.
DO NOT RE-ENTER COUNTRY ON H/L or ANY VISA after your GC is approved. Re-enter on AP.
Congrats on your GC approval.
Hold on a sec guys.
Now what would happen to a person who is travelling on business/pleasure for a couple of weeks and has NO knowledge of the GC being approved and/or card being mailed to him? So far the advice has ALWAYS been, if you want to keep ur H1 status, enter on an H1 and if you want to work on an EAD use the AP. What if i want to keep my H1 Status going coz i have NO CLUE that my GC has been approved?

I-140 processing date for NSC is May 15 and TSC is June 15th. I guess you need to wait for atleast a month.
If your employer pays for your GC and H1B transfer then go ahead and file for 1 year H1B extension.
If you are going to pay for your H1B extension and you are affected by retrogression, then upgrade your I-140 to PP and get it approved within 2 weeks and then file for 3 year H1B extension.
Thanks refugee for the response.
So, a non premium I-140 application can be moved to Premium Processing? While I am with the same employer?
Sorry if I sound painful, but this is something very critical to me. I am trying to get an I-140 processed in the hope that if Immigration Voice core team succeeds in getting a bill through to open the doors to I-485 filing prior to visa availalbity, I can take advantage of that.
H-1B extensions etc are taken care of by my employer. So I am not too worried about that. I am most concerned about my wife, to be able to restart her career.
This forum has been more useful and informative than any of my friends or attorneys etc.

Yeah, I also saw another post about dealys in Canadian embassies. But what makes you think older H1B approvals have more chance of delays?
It is true that this is not confined to India. Couple of my friends went to canada for stamping and they faced weeks of delays there also with regards to PIMS. On an average they had to wait 5 weeks for the stamp.
I know of a friend who went to Mumbai consulate and it took him just a week. He recently had received his 3 year extension based on I-140. So its just not consulate and it has to do with when your H1 was approved. I think recent approvals take less time. Not sure if this is correct.

By doing so, they force EB applicants to stick to one employer. It will effectively prevent changing jobs at the 4/5 years of H-1B period.

Mandal commission is still there and its worse now. There is no comparision.
Guys, I am postponing this in anticipation of this BIG news. But I do want to make few comments.
For the folks from certain part of India during 1989-90, there were protest undertaken by students against unfair policies of the government. During the same time our Chinese friends were also undertaking similar quest for change for personal freedom. Many of us, I am sure participated in or witnessed these events.
The current zeal among us, thus was nostalgic for several of us. And it also shows, we still have what it takes to make a change.
The issues are different today but the spirit is the same. We persuaded V.P Singh government to make concessions on Mandal commision then and hopefully, we will be successful here too.

My understanding was always that one can NOT be on dual status of L1 as well as H1B at the same time....it's not that you can choose to continue on L1 with an approved H1B .. long time back I got converted from L1 to H1B...once my H1B was approved...on day one ...I have to give my L1 status..

I am glad at least someone is thinking otherwise now days I don't see any activity on IV except FORCING to join state chapter, I dont feel coming to this site. There was a time when I use to spend 3-4 hours every day here.
Good idea, how about decorating a big tree with our GC wishes at some local mall or charitable, or kids play area and distributing/donating small gifts to homeless/poor kids to show our calm protest again some gandhigiri.

Hi, just so I'm clear, is there a place on the IV website that states how much IV have raised so far from members (something that's up to date) and gives a brief outline of what the money is used for. Perhaps broken down by what IV does – for example what it costs to organize rallies etc.
