Its just that you chose not to leave. The correct description of the situation is - you are imposing slavery upon yourself and asking for remedy from the government. Isn't that correct? Jazzy is simply saying that you can leave if you don't like it. So you are not a slave. Its that simple.

I am an Indian and my native tongue is not Tamil. I donot consider the issue in Srilanka as Tamil issue. I don't consider it as Indian issue either. I consider it as Srilankan issue.
Hope this addresses some of your questions.
Being a NRI in US, your conclusion is it is a SL issue, not a India issue. This is because you enjoy freedom, safety and opportunity in USA, even though you are just a non-immigrant in USA. Hope it will continue. If your job, safety, security, life becomes danger here, then do not get help from India or Indian consulate in USA; because it is a "US issue" as per your logic.

If you are really bright (as you claim that u graduated from best college of Rajasthan), then you should not worry about wages. Bright people always find jobs and make money irrespective of how many people are in the market.
I feel that after getting your GC you starting enjoying life and forgot to upgrade your skills. may be you came to USA after doing one month course in Java or COBOL during late 1990's.

Visa bulletin is based on the demand for visas. An immigrant vise is ISSUED when a GC is approved, and not filed. When a person receives an I485 approval letter that means his immigrant visa was assigned to him and that an immigrant visa number was used. Same applies to consular processing. The bottom line is that unless USCIS approves a huge amount of GCs in the coming months, the DOS can't and won't make adjustments in the middle of the month. We are all expecting that the VB will go back to June 2007 figure...it looks like that RoW has been so fast in getting the latest PD back which could come in a very few months time.
I was not expecting this to come too soon but in June 2008.

If it isn't approved.. then it's gonna be cancelled the moment that rule that's pending that comes out..
It's extremely risky and Feb 04 isn';t that great a PD.. just file new one .. correct way.. and relax.. you will probably get I140 approved earlier that way.. nothing's gonna happen unless laws change and if&when they change.. all PDs will be probably current for 6months to yr..

They don't understand that the merits of our case (you alluded to them in your previous posts, the demographic shift due to the baby boomers retiring requires skilled labor in this country), is sufficient to warrant a sympathetic ear to us in the congress. We CAN freaking get out of the mess we are in.
We have to accept these two problems. And then we have to address them. How do we do that? Thats the big question.

I have had my own experiences with these stalkers, one time I ran into a guy in Walmart and he asked "are you from south India" blah blah....then he asked me "do you have my phone number", I told him "I just met you and how do u expect me to have ur number".....then he asked my #, I gave him my old land line which was disconnected, he called immediately saying that he is giving his # to me, the call did'nt go through, he asked me why? I am developing a general framework in which you can plug in your own traumatic experience. The following is a good start. Please develop your own writeups.
From then on it was a scramble to fulfill a long list of requirements to be able to apply on time. The first task was for my husband to convince his HR to sponsor the process. Since they had already budgeted for the fiscal year and are on a spending freeze , it took a lot of convincing . The HR complied and gratefully we set out to get our Medical exams (at own cost of 150*2).Since we live in a small state with few doctors we drove 2 hours to a neighboring state to get them on time.
Being a mother of 3 small kids, I could not work on important paper works with them around. So after putting them to bed we spent the entire night pulling out the required documents from archives and placing them in order; numerous phone calls to parents back in India to collect their date of birth, place of birth information and completed the questionnaire.
Got passport pictures(60$) and mailed it all to our lawyers praying it will be one of the first to reach the department office on start of business on July 2nd.
The following are very good points that need more polish! The main point here is that we really can not understand this CRAP wih all other things in life which Americans are not facing!
We are raising families here, our everyday life is no different from any other AMERICAN middle class family with same expectations and hopes, so its not easy to presume that we can pull out or get out of this situation and return to our home countries.
Patience is not just a virtue but a way of life for thousands of Legal immigrants who have been living in the US for a number of years . Besides the everyday stress of Job,Mortgage,Health and education of their children they live with the added suspense of when their application for permanent residency ,commonly referred as "Green card" will move ahead from its deep slumber.

I understand your frustration very well. Of course the labor substitution is not logical, but it is not the root of the problem. Just think rationally how many people take advantage of this option. The real cause of our problem is Number of Visas. As long as it is legal, people will go for it. They should not be blamed, rather it is our inability that we didn't find the right "Approved Labor". If you find something suitable, will you not go for it?

I guess many have mentioned this before.
Diversity should not be based on "country" as well. For example I can easily say that "India" has to be considered as "20 different countries", if it divided based on diversity. And probably many of the europian countries combined should be "1 country".
Means if the diversity quota is 100 per year, to call for proper diversity.....

First of all for presuming that highly skilled immigrants who are waiting for GC are the only ones who can buy a house. Even 10 illegal aliens can come together and buy a house and share the mortgage.
Then, the economy is in it's cycle, it will pick up without more house buying. The issue is banks not lending to BUSINESSES not mortgages.
Most imporant, the proposal is same as saying "Sell me a GC". Ya, sure, that will pass the House and Senate.
Remember, nothing stops you from buying a house right now!!
