It's BLOODY RIDICULOUS. The cops shud be arresting these illegals, instead NO action was taken and inface people were SUPPORTING them on the news.
We, on the other hand have NOTHING to fear, YET we do not speak up.
Guys come out of ur caves and SIGNUP FOR THE RETROGRESSION RALLY on March 13th 2006.
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/breaking_news/13871017.htm
Sometimes I feel we legal law-abiding higly educated and highly skilled folks deserve to be treated like slaves as compared to the illegal folks. Sometimes I wish they should scrap the EB category visas altogether just so that everyone has to pack their bags/dreams/ambitions and get kicked out after the 6th year. After all, isn't silence a meek approval of the the treatment meted out to us curently?
But at the same time this is not fair to those who are not silent, not meek and want to do something about our own sorry state. All the monetary contributors to this org, everyone who is volunteering and calling/faxing senators, people pushing others to join this effort. They deserve a lot better.

You have to pay NJ taxes with a credit from your payroll state tax. My wife works from NJ and her payroll is from MI. I paid MI taxes and took that credit to pay NJ taxes.

BTW, when I was calling USCIS they were telling me the same - "if your checks wont' be cashed in 60 days, just refile again". It seems to be no problem for USCIS. My checks were finally cashed though.

Didn't pay much attnetion to grammer because of tension. But yes I did file concurrently and after changing the job after 180 days I had filed AC-21 through new attorney...
I can't give you a well informed answer. But my feeling is that, based on your PD, this is good news. I know a 485 REF would make a lot more sense. Did you file concurrently?
And not to mock the poster, but there is a difference between the meanings of the word "scary" and "scared".

I went to Ottawa, Canada for stamping last year in my 7th year extension.I had no degree from U.S. I had credential evaluation certificate given by U.S agency 6 years ago. They asked for that evaluation certificate.
My previous stamping was expired 3 years ago.
But I got stamping successfully.
I'm planning to go next month again with my 3 years extension.
For me it doesn't seem to be risky at all. But it's my personal opinion only.

I definitely support not depending on AILA to file the lawsuit.
Though they have a stake in this, there is nothing preventing them from settling it without any benefit to us

IF MANY PEOPLE DID IT BEFORE, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT IS POSSIBLE!!!!
YOU CAN'T DO IT. ANY IMMIGRATION EXPENSES IS NOT DEDUCTIBLE!!!!! YOU CAN FIND THIS INFORMATION WITH ANY IRS OFFICIAL
PLEASE READ THIS OTHER COMMENT IN ANOTHER TREAD:
"""I am working on getting my CPA very soon. And, I do taxes for living under another CPA.
IRS position is that your immigration expenses are your personal expenses and they are non deductible. If you'd like, you can take a position on your tax return that is contrary to that of IRS. In this case, you have to file a special form that you are taking a contrary position from IRS. (If you don't do this form, then you are defrauding the IRS and that's a criminal thing). This pretty much guarantees that you will be audited; and, IRS will assess their decision. You will have an option to go to court and prove that your position is what Congress intended to happen for the immigration type of expenses. Good luck in there and save enough money on attorneys and CPAs.
Also, businesses that pay for immigration expenses of their employees (or owners/co-owners as the case in TN or L visas) should not take deduction on their tax return. If they do, then they should issue a 1099-misc form to the person who received such benefit.
I hope this gives you some idea.""""

I just got a call from back home that my father had a stroke. I do not currently have an Advance Parole.
I will really appreciate if someone can guide me on getting AP immediately.
How soon I can get the AP?
What is the process of getting faster AP?
What documents are needed?
Thanks in advance,

Dear All,
We should support these bills whole heartedly. I have visited the local Congressman's office and explained the issue. I have sent letters (not mails) to all the concerned judicial committee members (related to the Issa bill)
Contrary to popular opinion expressed in IV, I was suprised to learn from law makers that many of them feel that the diversity visa is an outdated provision which has no room in today's America.
Can we all write letters to the Congress Rep, Senators and other members who matter, requesting them to support the bills? No opportunity should be missed!
You may draft the letter the way you like but in the subject line please state: "Request to support Bill No. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I repeat and request, signed snail letters are better than Emails! This is slightly painful in this E-age, but it carries much more weight!

You know why AILA doesnt know jack about this?
Coz they are threatening a lawsuit. And I am not saying that is the wrong thing to do. USCIS and DOS manipulation deserves a Tsunami of lawsuits.
But the thing is, if anyone knows ABC of litigation, when you are in negotiations with a party (or parties) threatening lawsuit, you dont blabber away details of what is going on and what happened so far. The conversation is thru lawyers only. The plaintiffs and defendents take a back seat and let the lawyers do negotiations without divulging vital information. That is exactly why USCIS is not telling anything to AILA. Nothing personal there, but that is just how lawsuits work. I dont think Emelio Gonzalez would even say "Hello" to anyone in AILA coz there is a pending lawsuit. USCIS must be talking to AILA thru its internal counsel (their own government lawyers for defense from lawsuits).
So it makes sense why AILA doesnt know about this and thinks its "fluid". They are not misleading. They are just sitting at the wrong table wheras Immigration Voice was sitting at the de facto negotiation table (Read the businessweek and its *hint* about white house talking to immigrant groups. Which immigrant group other than IV represent hi-tech workers ? )
So no wonder why AILA and IV have a difference of opinion here. Coz they are both talking at different parts of the government.
I am not exactly a groupie of Immigration Voice, but I think on this one, IV deserves a round of applause.
You might be right, but don't believe for a minute that USCIS's attempt to come up with a solution was not, in major part, compelled by AILA's threatening lawsuit. You need that lurking in the background to make anything happen. At least, AILA is willing to hold the USCIS to the legal standards it supposed to follow. This is not to say that what IV has been doing is great.

Could someone please explain what are the implication of taking big promotion (example: Consultant to Manager) when
1. Labor is pending
2. Labor is clear; but I-140 pending
3. I-140 clear; but I-485 pending for less than 6 months
4. I-140 clear; but I 485 pending for more than 6 months
thanks,
