I had a very unfortunate incident recenty. I relocated to a new city after I-485 filing. I banked on postal department mail forwarding service to forward all letters from USCIS to my new address. I was unfortunately proven wrong.
My I-485 receipt and FP notices were sent back to USCIS by the postal department as undeliverable. Then I went ahead and changed my address on the USCIS website. So these two notices were sent again to my current address by USCIS. But in this mess up I missed my FP appointment.
On the FP notice it is clearly written:- "If you fail to appear as scheduled, your application will be considered abandoned." Is it checkmate for me? Or do I still have hope?
I tried to call USCIS, but getting blocked by answering machine. I want to speak to someone from USCIS offices. What is the quickest way to reach a representative?

Like others mentioned no status issues, since she falls back as an "adjustee" on loosing H1B status. Technically the H1B employer is not allowed to force you on un-payed vacation for prolonged periods and the employer is required to revoke your H1B once the job is terminated. The employer still can offer you a future job based on your EAD. Anyway in summary I don't see any issue for your status or future job.

Well, may be because awareness about IV amongst non-indians is not as much IV would like. But there are very senior members and at least one core member who are of non-indian origin. And many such people could be hiding behind indian-sounding names too!

Anywayz, I have never worked for company A, should I work for them since I have EAD? But I am okay with my current company, you mentioned as long as company A does not have a problem the ac21 letter can be skupped?
When I get my actual GC is there an interview process? Is it Random? Can they ask me to sho pay stubs from company A?

Have you ever worked for company "a" ? Do you have offer letter, pay stubs from company "a" ? In case of RFEs generated for AC21 filing first thing USCIS would ask for is latest pay stubs from "a". because "a" is the sponsorer. For your gC process "x" does not matter and will not matter. Virtually speaking if you have not worked for "a" (not having pay stubs) AND join "b" thinking using AC21 AND "a" has a problem with that then you will be screwed. BUt if "a" does not have any problem you joining "b" without even having one paystub from "a" then there should not be any problem (My Guess). But even in that condition I would sit quitely and would not send AC21 letter to USCIS. If RFE get generated then I would think about what to do. Anyway ask to the professional lawyer about this because you want to play with law and there lawyer can decided whether you can be playful with the law or not.

My company A may not be ready for doing this? If that happens, can I use my earlier PD for company B applied GC? if yes, when do we need to mention that (during labor/ I-140/ I-485 filing)? ANd if my current employer is not ready to give me my I-140 approval papers, is there any other way to get it?

I am in the same boat. I took the Lawyer's advice and applied extension bit it got denied because of client's contract letter.
If you can provide end client's contract letter in case of rfe , I would say go ahead file extension.

The provision for some high-skills reform was thwarted by Sensenbrenner in the House and Sessions in the Senate and those 2 guys kept it out of the bill because this effort was a last minute effort out-of-order that needs unanimous consent. A single legislator can block it. That's what happened - Sensenbrenner and Sessions.
VP may have cast a tie breaker vote but that vote was on the whole bill, not on this provision.
Are we talking about the 2005 debacle? It was Sensenbrenner more than Sessions as the Senate did pass the amendment to recapture the visa numbers. Sensenbrenner successfully blocked it using the "majority of the majority" thumb rule that Hastert applied to bring any legislation to the house floor for voting.
Had it been on the House floor, it may have passed narrowly. But, it was the major reason for IV to be formed. So, in a way, we have a forum which we would not have if not for that episode.

any idea how much time it is taking now a days for getting AP approved. I efiled mine on Sep 15th and sent the photos/docs on 21st Sep. Still waiting for an approval.

As per USCIS processing time/volume data (I485 February 2010) for Texas, Nebraska and National, we have following volume for pending and Pre-adjudicated cases waiting for visa numbers:
Texas, Nebraska, National
Pending 20,215 - 21,905 - 158,010
Pre-adjudicated waiting for visa number 86,062 - 96,053 - 207,356
I am confused. Does this mean that there are 200,130 cases pending (20215+21905+158010) and 389,471 cases pre-adjudicated (86062+96053+207356)? Is this just EB demand or does this number also include FB demand?
