I find it abominable that there are still some humans(?) left in this century who want special benefits based on their race and country-of-origin in this 21st century !
It's time people were measured on merit instead of he is Indian, Chinese or some other nationality. Eliminating country quotas is part of IV strategy on the homepage. If someone has issues with it, well you are working against IV strategy !

........I strongly beleive that the H1B system and the EB greencard system has been setup to legally bring in high skilled workers as slaves and exploit them by taking away their freedom. We are no better than illegals, in the way we are treated by the goverment and the employers.
I will fight this case atleast to try to prove my point before I leave this place.
I am looking for some civil rights agency which can help me with the lawsuit. My fight is not for the GC, but it is for justice.

You have hit the nail right on the head. They issued 225000 H1b's between the years and 2000 and 2002 but the GC quota remained the same. Also, there is no quota for H1 (large # goes to India/Chine) but there is a quota for GC.
The idea is they want to control it so that only a third of the ppl who come on H1 end up getting a GC. They make the GC process hard one way or the other. Either you get stuck in the labor queue or in the retrogression queue. The average time to get has always been 4 years. Some ppl get lucky and get it in less than 3 and some get unluck and spend over 5 years trying to get it!
Ultimately the question for everyone is how long are you willing to put your life on hold? If you wait long enough you will get it. They seldom reject cases (unless it was a fraudulent case).
Having said that lot of us are thinking about leaving because US is making harder and harder for people like us to stay here and lot of us don�t want to put our lives on hold for years and years hoping that may be one day I�ll hit the jackpot called green card. On the other hand, lot of us don�t mind waiting and have been waiting for long time. It�s a matter of preference. Remember you are supposed to be a guest here. I am surprised why H1bs are angry ? This memo will impact the body shop only . Why shed tears for these desis dallas ? There is no bottom-line for these Indian Dallas. As JSB pointed out what you are asking already exists with an EAD, 180 days after filing 485 you can leave your current employer and join a new company as long as it is a same\semilar job. The problem with this same or semilar job is it is a ticking time bomb, the day USCIS decides to go after EAD they can have a restrictive interpretation of same and semilar job and deny your 485 or they can keep sending you employment verification letter rfe every couple of months. I am not being paranioid, for example even though AC 21 clearly states that once 180 days have passed since the 485 has been applied, the employee can join a new job and even if the previous employer has revoked the approved 140 it should not effect the 485 petition, but USCIS is not following this law and blindly sending 485 denial notices to applicants whose approved i140 was revoked by previous employer. Who knows what sort of abuse will USCIS resort to in the future against EAD.
To prevent this we should work towards an administrative fix that once the 485 application is pre adjudicated the applicant should be left alone and not issed any Employment verification letter rfe, or semilar\same job restrictions if they are back logged because of country quota and face multiple year wait.

What many people are asking for is for something such that anyone can change a job after some given time, irrespective of Visa number availability. I doubt it. My sense is that USCIS has already processed most of EB2-I cases until early 2004 - based on approval trend seen on IV, Murthy Forum, and a ton of personal friends. If it goes back it may go back to Fall 2004 time frame.

for EB3 - I guess it is good that they are not allowing concurrent /premium 140 filing ..am I right ? because if they make EB2 current and they cannot use up the visas then they would make EB3-ww available ? wishfull thinking ..but hope that it works / happens that way

There is already a big backlog of EB2 cases, and unless EB2 numbers overflow to EB3, it will not advance to any appreciable extent. (also the number of filers in EB3 is higher than in EB2: including large numbers in EB3 ROW--not just highly subscribed countries).
It would be anybody's guess when EB3 will move; but my guess is: not for next 2-3 years and may be longer (I dont mean to offend anyone, this is just my guess) unless there is a change in law (likely to happen with new president).

when will the day come when a lot of us will rush to Delhi.....braving the cold/heat....stand for hours........dancing to tunes of pop singers......while awaiting our beloved PM to show up and take oath of office........just like hundreds of thousands did when obama took office.........
I am just wondering.....
will any one of us spend money to travel to Delhi to witness the next swearing cermony, assuming it where held in an open place, lets say raj ghat or something like that.
I am wondering.....
when will that charismatic leader (with really good intentions and sence of direction) emerge? from, a billion? Why is it taking so long? Is the whole germ pool spoiled? why dont we get the good ones to lead such populated nations? I dont have a clue about where and with whom the problem lies....

And Gowda is missing from the list. Last time when Lallu said 'Bring some Gadha/ Godha' He came again running saying I am Godha , I am Godha
