you do not need to have a H1 or H1 visa stamp when you return from canada/Mexico provided that you are returning back to USA with in 30days and do not apply for a visa abroad and you have never been out of status. I am copying the quote from a University website. if you want more information, then Google for more information and the restrictions involved in this procedure.

Question? Did you send a combined check for all the amounts together with one check? (325+170+180+70) 745? If you did, I guess as per the filing instructions on each application, they require applicants to cut seperate check for each application. could you please confirm with an attorney.

You are right that it's either EAD or H1. But using AC21 does not mean using EAD. AC21 means you are allowed to change change jobs after 180 days of 485 filing without affecting the 485 petition. At your new job, you can use either EAD or do a H1 transfer and not use EAD. Using EAD is not mandatory. In fact, it is considered safer if you can transfer H1 rather than using EAD, as implied by logiclife's reply.

I'm not sure if your situation is the same as OP's. In his case, he had a valid H-1B with company A. He applied for a transfer to B. Before he even got the approval he worked for B. Then his transfer was denied. So technically the only H-1B, and hence LCA, valid till now is for A. Wouldn't his work at B be considered unauthorized?
As others have suggested, you can always go back to your previous employer. I have been in similar situation as to go back to the previous employer, after working with the transferred H1B for 3 months. My new employer was even worse than the previous one and I decided to return to my previous employer. I worked for them for 2 more years and then did a smooth H1 transfer to a 3rd company and working for them since.

Thanks for sharing the link but honestly there is nothing new in this one. Immigration reform is being talked about since bush era and so far nothing has happened! Do not be surprised if you see an other version of this document in 2020 too!
That may be the case, but maybe we should use this time to step up our efforts in our own states and cities. If you just say, "Oh this is all rhetoric, and nothing will happen" and sit on your couch, aren't you contributing to inaction??

A Democratic aide on the hill passes along the first ten bills that Majority Leader Harry Reid will put in the hopper this evening to kick off the new session of Congress, as sent by leadership to various Senate Legislative Directors. Unfortunately for us, the bills are placeholders that only contain vague statements of purpose, not specific legislative language, so we can only get a sense of the basic priorities of the Senate Democrats. Here's the countdown:
S.1 -- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. "To create jobs, restore economic growth, and strengthen America�s middle class through measures that modernize the nation�s infrastructure, enhance America�s energy independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable health care, provide tax relief, and protect those in greatest need, and for other purposes." The stimulus bill; no surprises here.
S.2 -- Middle Class Opportunity Act of 2009. Sound familiar? This is a retread of a bill sponsored by Senator Chuck Schumer in the last Congress that has a variety of tax reform goals; the additional descriptions in this bill include hints at union support ("ensuring workers can exercise their rights to freely choose to form a union without employer interference") and perhaps another go at the Ledbetter law ("removing barriers to fair pay for all workers").
S.3 -- Homeowner Protection and Wall Street Accountability Act of 2009. This bill will include a moratorium on foreclosures, Senator Dick Durbin's plan to allow for easier reworking of troubled mortgages by bankruptcy judges, new regulations for the credit card and financial industry, and investment in the Small Business Administration to provide loans for small businesses in need. It also makes TARP -- the Wall Street bailout -- a larger part of foreclosure reduction.
S.4 -- Comprehensive Health Reform Act of 2009. "It is the sense of Congress that Congress should enact, and the President should sign, legislation to guarantee health coverage, improve health care quality and disease prevention, and reduce health care costs for all Americans and the health care system." Paging Ezra!
S.5 -- Cleaner, Greener, and Smarter Act of 2009. This is a bill that focuses mainly on green investment and updating infrastructure to be more efficient and less polluting. But since a lot of those priorities are expected to be rolled into the future, one wonders if this is a vehicle for cap-and-trade, given the Kyoto Protocols, given this provision: "requiring reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases in the United States and achieving reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases abroad."
S.6. -- Restoring America�s Power Act of 2009. This is basically the Democrats' '08 foreign policy consensus: Refocus on Afghanistan, transition in Iraq, strengthen alliances, WMD non-proliferation in Iran and North Korea... you get the idea. Most of this is in the executive branch's bailiwick so this legislation may just be a supportive resolution indicating that if Obama needs new authorities or resources to accomplish these goals, he'll get them. The bill also includes goals of providing proper training and equipment to the Armed Forces, and medical care when they return from duty.
S.7 -- Education Opportunity Act of 2009. "To expand educational opportunities for all Americans by increasing access to high-quality early childhood education and after school programs, advancing reform in elementary and secondary education, strengthening mathematics and science instruction, and ensuring that higher education is more affordable." An education omnibus bill that will no doubt be split up into separate pieces of legislation.
S.8 -- Returning Government to the American People Act. "To return the Government to the people by reviewing controversial 'midnight regulations' issued in the waning days of the Bush Administration." A sentiment we can all get behind, which promises to provide the new administration legislative authority, if it doesn't have it already, to review (and presumably deny) the last administration's late regulations.
S.9 -- Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders Act of 2009. Seems to be a placeholder for comprehensive immigration reform, including stronger border and employment security to crackdown on illegal immigration while "reforming and rationalizing avenues for legal immigration."
S.10 -- Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009. Gosh, this one is interesting. It's one part congressional hand-wringing over the fact that "the Federal budget is on an unsustainable path of rising deficits and debt," and it calls for a study of this. It's one part fiscal hawkery, supporting "strong pay-as-you-go rules, to help block the approval of measures that would increase the deficit." And it's one part ... populist? "A review of the current system of taxation of the United States to ensure that burdens are borne fairly and equitably." That could be the justification for the Bush tax cut rollback in 2010.
Those are the top ten bills of your 111th Senate. A quick perusal of the 110th Senate's first ten bills suggests about half of that legislation was passed by Congress (it included ethics reform, the minimum wage increase, stem cell research, the 9/11 Commission reforms and legislation to increase higher ed access) though not all of it was signed by the President. We'll see if the Dems have better luck this year.

If there is a problem with your I 485, legally speaking attorney should let you know and you have the legal right to quesiton or ask the attorney.
If it was the case with I 140, attorney is not legally obglized to answer you or let you know about the notice or RFE.
So I would say your employer has played the trick of revoking your I 140 noticing your move of either using AC21 or knowing your intention.
As our friend said, try to sort out with your employer and most possibly your employer should have revoked I 140. talk to him and if things do not work out. Better change employer.
It is not worht working for this kind of employer's who would do things at the back with out letting the employee's know (back stabbing).
Have freedom, change employer, I know it hurts in sense it would cost you, but you should do it.
Even I have to take harsh steps, but just waiting for the right momentum.
I hope denied I 485 has not put you out of status or any legal troubles.

The delimma is if it's decided by Immigration that's it's my mistake i have to pay all over again. Put nobody know if i should pay the new fees or the july-2nd fees.
Also i asked if i should send a payment with the appilcation just to make sure the application is not rejected for not including the payment, i did not get an answer for that.

guys, this is new stuff. I just can't believe all this. You should report it to Senators and USCIS(unanimous if preferable). Until you tell these people how companys are misusing or wrongly interpreting the rulings how are they going to know what all is going on.

Sry for this question but are you implying that you cannot get married while your AOS process in progress.
From what I understood till now, you should be good as your future wife holds her status and continues to with her own H1 unless you intend to include her in your AOS process

I have finished entering details in the efiled I-131 application. but on completion I am getting the following notes

i think the suggested fields notes are coming because of the middle initial(we both do not have middle initial)
But I DO NOT understand why the notes regarding required fields are coming for the primary filer. Any ideas? ( what required fields I would have left out.. forms were very similar for both primary filer and secondary filer)
