I am sorry if I am hijacking the thread here. I believe I have an experience I would like to share. I am still working to start a chapter here in NE. Surprisingly I am yet to find a member here from NE.
Until then, I wanted to join another state chapter. I applied to Kansas Chapter. No Response yet. Then I applied to MN chapter. No response yet. Are these chapters active at all? or, is it because they are not interested in members from other states? Please respond

I wud like 2 get such data from USCIS.
Now they are definitely in a position to do so.
That data will not need any multiplication factor.
data is probably for primary applicant. I entered my case on for example but did not create another account for my wife. So I am only counted once, while my wife's 485 is not counted at all in your results. I guess this is the case for most people.
These probably need to be multiplied by 2.5 to get all pending 485 numbers (I read somewhere that 2.5 is the average number of dependents). Please correct me if I am wrong.

I believe it would really ease pain of those people who have either go sucked due to labor substitution or namecheck or July fiasco or for any other matter.
If a person has already spent 5 years or so (from priority date or whatever waiting date) and also lived for significant number of years, it would make sense to let them apply for Citizenship.

In H4 category, one or both parents of the adopted child should live with the child in the country of adoption for at least two (2) years before being granted a visa. On a GC, it is almost impossible to do an international adoption - a domestic one is possible.
Can you explain what you mean by "A dometic one is possible" Dont you have to be a US Citizen, in order to adopt a kid here?

Next Step would be to have our conference call and decide on the further course of action.
I know about the following site : FreeConference.com - Free Telephone Conference Call Service (http://www.freeconference.com/)
Chandu / Pappu: please advice if you are aware of another option. I'll mail you also.
Thanks.
I have emailed you the details - thanks for the excellent work and keep it up. You have taken the first step and I am sure everyone else will follow

what abt ppl who are past 6 years.. and nearing their first 3 year h1 extension...can they apply for premium..dosent say that
itst as vague as any govt...release.;)
They seem to doing it not in stages but in trickles :)
The premium processing option for I-140 has been *slightly* expanded. More details are here
Click Here (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=0319bde6869af110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCR D&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD)
Previsouly, your six years of H-1B time had to be ending and you status had to be H-1B.
Under the new rules, you can file for premium processing even if you are no longer in H-1B and your time is up.
In all honestly, I am having a tough time coming up with a scenario where this prove helpfull but I am sure brighter minds than mine will chip in.
Hat tip to the Greg Siskind's blog for reporting this.

Thanks to all for the help. I'll not subject you to shots from every BB game I shoot, but here are four from my second session. I tried to shoot tighter/closer this time, with some success and a lot of failure. I feel better about this second effort. More tonight. Good thing I'm dumping most of the images because my hard drive isn't big enough. ;) Any additional help appreciated, particularly in terms of composition.
Thanks,
Gary

I went through a similar situation and won against my employer without the help of any attorney, can you let me know ur case in detail. I will try to help you.
I started working for my employer last year on H1b. I've also singed employee agreement contract which stated to work for my employer for a period of 1 year (2080 hrs). It also states that in case of improper termination of the contract, the employee is reponsible for the damages caused.
My employer is based in Texas and I am working in california.
After working for my employer for a client about 6 months, I've got an offer from the same client for a permanent position and that I need to transfer my h1 inorder to accept the offer.I transfered my H1.
Since then my employer is trying to scare me with notices through mails. My friends has told me not to accept either mail/phone from my employer. My employer tried to reach me several times through mail/email/phone but couldn't.
Recently one of my room mates accepted a letter from an unknown person (through my employer's advocate) without my knowledge. The mail is a NOT legal notice but a printed document stating the breach of employee agreement handed by a person.
The letter stated the same thing which is present in the employee agreement that in case of improper termination, the employee has to pay for the damages. The damages in the letter include the damages over $10,000 incurred by my employer as a result of the termination of contract.
It has also stated in case I do not pay for the damamges, my employer has no choice but to persue with the arbitration method of resolving this issue.
The same thing I shared with few of my friends and I had mixed responses. One was insisting to pay for the damages in order for a smooth transition. The other has told me to post in this forum to get valuable advice from the members.
Another friend has told me not to bother as my employer also breached the general labour acts such as not paying for me while on bench, taking fees for the filing of h1,not paying for the medical insurance (as stated in the employment agreement).
Now I received a similar document delivered in person to my office desk.

Ok, I made a slight mistake (rather, my computer did). I filed my EAD renewal online yesterday. After making the payment, I tried to print the receipt and my browser crashed!!!!! I could not note down the receipt number. USCIS does not even send you an email confirmation.
Now, question is, how do I get the receipt number and the PDF file? I have emailed the DHS support email.
Thanks

Anyone getting their questions answered on the forum yet?
It seems nobody is getting any answers...
Although I dont have any question to be answered, I will grab this opportunity for support. Just made $50 via Paypal.
To all who are busy with I485, and to all thinking twice for making contribution:
I have rarely seen IV calling upon members to contribute. So, dont let them down. Dont wait until visa dates are retrogressed or CIR picks up without any legal amendment.

"In fact, now you should be all the more proud of being one step away from calling yourself an american musician as opposed to just criticizing how bad the system is."
Listen a1b2c3, the system is BAD and will need a LOT of fixing. I have been 13 years in this country and provided work for many Americans. I paid taxes like everyone, but could not call NYC home because of a bad system.
I am HAPPY to have my GC because I can also travel oh so more easily, it was a lot of money to spend on visas and all the fees around them (ie travelling abroad every year to go to American Consulates).
One: I have no plans of becoming and American musician or citizen.
Two: I am not JUST criticizing to criticize, the system is "dangerously" flawed, and I just hope my case could inspire others in similar situation. Inspire the elected officials to be "more pushy" with uscis. That is what they ALL did in my case.
So a1b2c2, let's leave this exchange right here as I am not interested in your unfounded criticisms.
I agree with you. There is a lot of inconsistency in the system. The system is dangerously flawed - and something must be done, which is not easy - u have a whole industry (immigration agents, lawyers, consultants etc...) that is thriving on this and thats why things are not easy.
But a1b2c2 is also partially right about the system because - believe me - this system seems to be working. The law is complicated unlike other countries where immigration is a straightforward process. Here u have to struggle hard to get a GC - some people maybe lucky and others may not be.
But, yes, it must not be as absurd as what you faced.

Some of the websites are coming up with the number of 40,000 on the first day, which is way less then what was received last year. So the quota might not get exhausted by April 7.
